BORA-BORA, HERE I AM!
That’s it... The D-DAY is here finally!!!
This morning, very early, we went to the airport of Tahiti-Faa’a to take an Air Tahiti’s plane (domestic airline company) to fly to BORA-BORA!!!
The planes of Air Tahiti are very nice and comfy.
We took off on time, with a stop in Huahine...
Since I arrived in Polynesia, my fear of taking a plane disappeared... fortunately, because during my trip in Polynesia, I had at least more than twenty planes to take (including all the domestic stops)!!!
And finally BORA-BORA ! The Pearl of the Pacific Ocean, for a reason!!!
Bora-Bora is located at 260km from Tahiti (about 45mn flight time).
The airport of Bora-Bora is located on an islet at 15mn by boat from Vaitape, the main village.
The arrival is quite exceptional and the crossing by boat to go to the main village made me speechless because Bora-Bora is so beautiful... Enjoy the pictures below:
After our arrival in the main village, we went to our accommodation by truck. We stayed at the South of Bora-Bora, The Pointe Matira, in an exceptional site.
Moreover, as the site is facing the wind, there are no mosquitoes at all
The Pension Robert and Tina is quite simple, but comfy. There is no hot water, but it’s not a problem because we get used to it and the water is not very cold either!
The beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen so far.
After our installation in the Pension, we had lunch and then went to a ride by bike around the island. I haven’t ride a bike since 20 years, so I told Eric, the guide, that I prefer to go for a walk because I was not at ease on a bike. And it was a good thing, because the bikes were American, that is to say very different from the ones I knew: they don’t have a brake in the handlebar, we need to brake by back-pedalling, which is already not so easy for people who are used to riding a bike.
So I went for a walk by myself to take a lot of pictures.
I came in a shop of the famous Black Pearls of Tahiti to have a look and I met Thierry who was the salesman in this shop. We had been talking for an hour and he explained to me how and why he came to Bora-Bora to live in. It is very interesting to know the personal story of people...
Then, after my long walk, I returned to the Pension to enjoy the lagoon of Bora-Bora and swim... The ocean was warm and so clear, I could see all the fishes. And there was nobody in the water so I had the lagoon for myself!!!
I met up with my groupe a little bit later. We cleaned up, changed clothes and get ready to have dinner. It was Eric, our guide, who cooked us dinner. Meanwhile, I went out to take some pictures of the sunset... It was so wonderful...
What can I add????
It is the most beautiful place on Earth, isn’t it?
