FIRST DAY IN TAHITI!
I didn’t sleep very much. I was awake at 5:00am and went out to take some pictures of the place!
After having some breakfast alone (the other persons of my group were not awake yet), departure from the hotel at 8:00am for hiking in the Fautaua Valley.
The vegetation is luxuriant (coconut, mangoe, and avocado trees) and the hike is very nice and shady...
We stopped to have a picnic at the bottom of a waterfall which was surrounded by high polished basalt rock faces.
Return to the Hotel Sofitel to take our bags and departure for another accommodation located in the peninsula of Tahiti, The Vanira Lodge. Installation in our bungalows completely blended in with nature.
Charlie, a Chinese associate of Eric, cooked a wonderful dinner for us: meat with sauce and rice...
Francoise, Elisabeth and I came back to our bungalow for the night... bed with a mosquito net mandatory...
Each bungalow has its own gecko (it’s a small lizard which eats the insects pests and in particular the mosquitoes). The cry of the gecko is very recognizable. The geckos usually stay on the ceiling or on the walls and go very rarely on the beds... Fortunately...
Here, in Polynesia, the sun sets very early: at about 6:00pm and the sun rises very early too: at about 5:30am. The Polynesian Life goes with the sunset and the sunrise. The Polynesian people go to bed early and woke up very early too. The workdays begin at 7:00am to end at about 3:30pm or 4:00pm.
