LAST DAY IN RURUTU

I woke up at 06:35am. Shower, clothing and breakfast.

At 08:00am, I went to the beach facing the Pension to take some pictures.

I borrowed at the Pension the book of Grandma Pare, “Rurutu, mémoires d’avenir d’une île australe” (Memories of the future of the Austral island).

It was a very fascinating book. I read it on the beach until 09:30am, then I came back to the Pension.

Then, I went to the village of Moerai to take the last pictures.

There were some rain showers. At 11:00am, I went to the restaurant to buy something for lunch. I ordered raw tuna marinated in coconut milk and white rice. I had lunch facing the ocean at a stone table. It was a very pleasant and quiet moment.

Then, I decided to go back slowly to the Pension. On my way, I saw Alfred, the cousin of Reti (the guide). We talked a lot together and one thing leaded to another he proposed to me!!! It was actually my second proposal since my arrival in Polynesia. The first one was done by Robert, in Taku, on the island of Mangareva at the Gambier Islands! But never mind, it was funny, nothing else!!!

Then, Reti who was sweeping in the garden of his aunt, where was accommodated Alfred, came to join us and talk. The domestic employee of the Pension, who ended her workday, came also to speak with us. We had spoken for an hour.

Then, I came back to the Pension. I ended the book of Grandma Pare.

At 7:00pm, dinner: shrimps fritters, grilled mahi-mahi with a pepper sauce, potatoes of Rurutu, and for dessert yoghurt of Rurutu. Yves went to talk a little bit with me, because I was the only guest in the dinner room. It was a former legionnaire and met his wife, a beautiful woman of Rurutu, 20 years ago, Hélène. He got married to her! So, he stayed in Rurutu and made this island his heart island...

I went to bed at 8:00pm. And then, there was a very heavy storm which the claps of thunder made the bungalows shaking!!! I snuggled up deep down my bed... Moreover, a mosquito flew over me all night long. In brief, the night was rather restless!!!
