LAST DAY IN TAHITI

Today, it’s the last day of my trip to Polynesia and above all my last day in Tahiti.

We decided (my group and I) to book a cab at 7:00am to go to Papeete (15km from the Pension), to visit the town before our return to France tonight at 11:30pm (departing time of the flight).

So let’s go to visit Papeete...

I decided to spend the morning with Françoise...

Before departure, here is the picture of beautiful pink/purple shades (we didn’t check with each other!!!).

Françoise and I went to the market of Papeete, then to the forecourt of the Town Hall where there were many local craftsmen and shows of dance...

My group and I met each other in a restaurant to have lunch. I chose of course the typical national Polynesian dish: raw fish marinated in coconut milk!!!

In the afternoon, I went by myself for a walk to downtown. I would like to go to a tattoo shop to have the tattoo of a small manta ray on the side of my right hand-wrist. But, after much thought, I wouldn’t do it quickly and above all with whoever tattooist. I preferred to wait for the Festival of the Marquesas, in December 2011, in Nuku Hiva. In this festival all the best tattooists will be gathered. There will be also many shows of dance, songs, pirogue races and other things... This festival takes place every 4 years on an island of the Marquesas. Next year, it will take place in Nuku Hiva.

We came back to the Pension of the Beach at 4:00pm, to stay a little while before our departure to the airport.

Here are some pictures of the Pension:

I had a lump in my throat because we had to come back to France today...

But, I will come back to Polynesia soon! My second trip is already scheduled: from the 30th January to the 19th March 2011!!!

Nana ! (bye-bye!)
