VISIT OF THE VILLAGE IN MANIHI

I woke up at 06:30am. Shower, clothing and breakfast.

From 08:30am to 09:30am, Philippe explained to me what was exactly the mabe. The mabe of Tahiti exists in a variety of colors and shapes including half-heart shapes and half-pear shapes. They are made by technician who graft the semi spherical nucleus on its internal face of the shell of the pearl oyster with dark lips. After 6 months, the nucleus is covered with several layers of mother-of-pearl. The technician remove this half-sphere, take the nucleus off and cover the hole with a layer of polished mother-of-pearl. The Mabe is very desired in the jewelry industry for the creation of earrings, pendants and brooches. Philippe and his family make mabe.

Then, I played with Nanihi until lunch time at 11:30am. The menu was: raw vegetables, fish curry, rice and cup of coffee.

At 12:15pm, I went with the couple of guests who were leaving in the boat with Vaiana. Nanihi was also there. Then, we visited the main village of Manihi and at 2:00pm, we went back to the Pension.

I stayed on the beach during the afternoon and I played also with Nanihi.

Then, I took a shower and had dinner. The menu was: parrot fish with sauce, rice and fresh papaya.

I went to bed at 8:00pm.
