TOUR OF MANGAREVA
I woke up at 05:45am. After the shower, clothing and breakfast. Bianca already ate her breakfast because she had work to do. So I had breakfast alone.
Today, I will go to the CED (Development and Education Center), which is actually a specialized school of engraving on mother-of-pearl. When I arrived at the CED, the headmistress showed me a display cabinet where there were all the pieces of mother-of-pearls engraved by the students of all classes. The course lasts 5 years. As it was raining, the engraving workshop was closed. In fact, you have to have a sunny weather to work in this workshop because the students use some products which are sensitive to the water and which need to dry off instantly. The headmistress told me to come back next Monday morning to visit the workshop if the weather will be nice.
Then, I decided to go to see Louise. I arrived at her house around 09:00am and we talked a lot. I went with her to the post office at the end of the morning and she insisted to invite me at the restaurant for lunch. I accepted with a great pleasure.
At 2:00pm, I left her and warmly thanked her for all and told her that I will come back to see her before my departure next Tuesday.
I had an appointment with the couple of retired French people, Jehovah Witnesses, who will drive me around the island. The man’s name is Joseph and his wife’s name is Mireille. They are very nice. They came from Bandol (South East of France) and had been living in the Gambier for almost two months.
So we went for a big tour around the island. It was very interesting to see all the beauties of the island of Mangareva. We stopped numerous times on the way to take pictures.
In Taku, we saw Robert and all the kids I met last time.
The tour ended at 4:00pm.
I warmly thanked them because they took time to show me the island.
Then, I came back to the Pension, had a rest until dinner time. The menu of the dinner was: Chinese dishes bought in a stand at the bottom of the Pension: sauteed vegetables, crunchy chicken and pastry shells with cream.
I went to bed at 8:00pm.
